rsync is not copying recursively even with --archive

Image
0 I am trying to use rsync to backup my home folder to an external hard drive. I have tried the following command: sudo rsync -a /home /run/media/TOSHIBA_HDD/home_12_18 Inside my home directory I have my user folder, inside of which are the regular Documents, Downloads, etc. All of those folders are being copied, but without any of their contents. So I have the folder structure, but all the folders are empty. I've been searching around but cannot seem to find a solution. I've also noticed that rsync seems to copy exactly 1GB before hanging. I also get the following error messages right after running rsync: rsync: symlink "/media/tac/TOSHIBA_HDD/home_12_18/tac/.face.icon" -> ".face" failed: Operation not permitted (1) rsync: chown "/media/tac/TOSHIBA_HDD/home_12_18/tac/.cache/dc...

If gravity accelerates all objects the same, why does a ball in water sink? [closed]

Image
3 1 I recently learned the law of universal gravitation: F = GmM / d² . It dictates that all objects should fall at the same acceleration. But how is density explained then? Take for example a watercontainer with a ball inside denser than water. However, the mass of the water is the same as the mass of the ball. So, if gravity pulls the water and the ball with the same force, how come the ball sink? newtonian-mechanics newtonian-gravity acceleration density fluid-statics share | cite | improve this question edited Dec 19 '18 at 23:53 akraf 103 1 ...
