Removing a block of text from a string with predictable start and end

-1

I have a string that includes the following html:

<td colspan="2"><p>adidas YEEZY men’s limited edition “Static” white and grey marled knit textile low top running-inspired sneaker released as part of the ongoing collaboration between adidas and music artist and designer Kanye West’s YEEZY line. Features a translucent knit stripe on the lateral midfoot that reveals the interior structure of the sneaker and a semi-translucent rubber midsole with Boost cushioning.<br> </p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;">• Purchase of this item is final sale</span>

My goal is to remove this block from the rest of the string.
The text inside is unpredictable, but the tags surrounding are a constant ( and ).

I have tried using RE to address it, but it isn't very verbose and I couldnt find an example that had other tags inside the target block of text (that would just look for <>). This is my attempt:

re.sub(r' <tds+colspan="2">.*?</span>', '', str(allproducts))

It does not spit out an error but it also doesnt filter out the unwanted section, so I assume it is an issue with my RE.

Thanks
