Is there ever a scenario where you would put both a pair of commas and a pair of parenthesis around a parenthetical? I.e. in this form word words words,(words words words), words words words.?

For example:

Based my client's financial situation, (see attached proof of funds), my client can proceed to closing without any delay.

  • Short answer: no. Long answer: just why.

  • If you removed the first comma it would be normal.

  • The commas and the parentheses serve different purposes here and have little to do with each other. They may both be needed in certain contexts as this.
