How to get the currently selected IOMUX on a running ARM?

I am currently configuring the IOMUX on a i.MX 6 using pinctrl via the Linux device tree. For this it would be helpful to get the currently selected configuration of a given pin on the running system.
Is there an interface for this? Preferably even via Sysfs or another user space interface, but a kernel space solution would also be sufficient.
In contrast to this question I am not so much interested in the value configured via device tree, but in the actual selection that might be influenced by other means (e.g. drivers not using the pinctrl interface, default selections...).
