Permission Denied Running Arch-ARM Install Script as Root User on Android [on hold]

We're following this tutorial to run ArchLinux on a Samsung Galaxy S3.
We've successfully unarchived the root file system and the exec scripts into /data/local/arch
and /data/local/bin
respectively, but for some reason we're getting:
Permission Denied
when running ./kexec_hb.d2.sh
, even after chmodding the directory and all of the install scripts to 777
. Any ideas what's going on here?
permissions executable android arch-arm
