No desktop environment upon boot [closed]
I recently switched to openSUSE from elementaryOS
(I uninstalled elementaryOS and replaced it
with openSUSE Leap 15.0 with KDE Plasma environment),
but I am facing a few problems right away.
The major problem is the lack of a desktop environment upon booting. When I boot, I get a tty screen 8/10 times. This does not go away even after I run
sudo shutdown
.I also am not able to make my computer hibernate.
I do not know what the problem(s) is/are.
Could any of you experienced users please guide me?
boot kde login opensuse hibernate

We need more background, what did you do exactly. Did you install over top of elementaryOS or alongside it? Where you given the option to chose a desktop environment, if so what did you choose? Does it get to the GUI or not and is it completely random when it does or doesn't.

I uninstalled elementaryOS and replaced it with openSUSE Leap 15.0 with KDE Plasma environment. I shut the computer down once and after a while tried to turn it on. That is when I was met with the tty1 screen. I have not shut my computer off since then in fear of being greeted by the tty screen again as I am not experienced enough to use my pc from the terminal.

So you did eventually get to the GUI? What did you do to get there?

I did get the GUI but I had to restart the computer several times by pressing the power button for it.
