Kali Linux Virtual Machine login [closed]

0

I'm currently trying to use kali linux on a virtual machine on my computer. I can install it perfectly fine, but when it shows the login page I cannot login. I've tried my own login that it had me set up, and I've tried the domain it had me set up. Is there something I need to update to login, or should I scrap the virtual machine idea.

  • Does the user exist on the domain you added your virtual machine to? Hard to log in if that domain cannot authenticate that user.

  • I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist. The installation said that if you don't have a domain, then you can just make one up.

  • If you are domain joined then it would be [Domain]/root then whatever password you set up. If that does not work can you try reinstalling it and not adding it to a domain? The log in will be username: root, password: [whatever you set].

  • Thank you for your comment. I didn't set a domain and just used the root for the login and my own password and it worked. Thank you.
