Apache2: avahi_entry_group_add_service_strlst(SomeHostName) failed
OS: Debian 10 Buster, upgraded from Stretch, to this date still in testing phase.
I am just checking upon how my Apache2 web server is doing and while it is starting since boot, I see some error messages in the error log, I will have to sort out separately, as there are more than one, this question is about the last two lines of the error log:
# tail -2 /var/log/apache2/error.log
[Sun Dec 16 05:44:06.408635 2018] [:error] [pid 778] avahi_entry_group_add_service_strlst("Pavel Striz on backup-server") failed: Invalid host name
[Sun Dec 16 05:44:06.409315 2018] [:error] [pid 778] avahi_entry_group_add_service_strlst("vlastimil on backup-server") failed: Invalid host name
in spite of:
# apache2ctl configtest
Syntax OK
where:
vlastimil
is my primary user, I believe I did not specify the whole name while creating the user so, that is why we see only the username.Pavel Striz
is the whole name of the only other user on the system, (his login name ispavelstriz
), besidesroot
, of course.
Questions begin with:
- How did the whole name of the secondary non-sudo user end up in
apache2
error log?
and end with:
- What's
avahi_entry_group_add_service_strlst
?
In the end of the day:
- I would, naturally, like to resolve whatever the error actually means.
Notes:
both users vlastimil
and pavelstriz
are running one VirtualHost I believe.
I will add more information upon request.
