I need your help understanding the grammar in a specific sentence

0

"I got inspiration, I got insight, and I began to care deeply about my work."
My issue with this sentence is in regards to the two independent clauses, which are separated by a comma--isn't that a run-on sentence, a comma splice?
Given that this article was written by a Harvard Professor of English, I suspect that it's grammatically correct (I'm sure, lol!) but I'm not sure how.

Thanks!

  • Run-on sentences and comma splices are a horrible abomination. Except when they're not.
