Verbs followed by a description 2 Verbs in a row
I have a question regarding the usage of Verb-ing and V1 when we have 2 verbs in a row, or a verb with a description.
For example:
"My mom doesn't let me bring a cat home." "Let's go eat." "I
can help you take the groceries."
Vs.
"I enjoy watching TV." "I finished eating." "I remember
inviting those people."
My question is:
1) How can I know when to use Verb-ing after a verb and when to use a normal V1 after a verb.
2) Why some of the verbs are followed by Verb-ing and some are followed by V1?
Why isn't it (for example) :
"I can help you taking the groceries". or " I remember invite
those people". ?
