BUG_ON in btrfs
I have a btrfs partition that won't mount, and most of the errors I get seem to point to a bad superblock. Most of the documentation for fixing this seemed to indicate that I should use btrfs rescue zero-log
.
When I run btrfs rescue zero-log
, I get a BUG_ON warning and a stack trace:
volumes.c:1658: btrfs_chunk_readonly: BUG_ON `!ce` triggered, value 1
btrfs(+0x2b014)[0x5609f4aa1014]
...
Aborted
What does this mean about my btrfs volume, and how can I fix it?
mount hard-disk btrfs bugs

I don't know what documentation you read, but did you checkman btrfs-recover
? It suggests runningbtrfs rescue zero-log
only for specific mounting errors; Basically errors due to log replay. You mentioned the errors point to a bad superblock, for which the proper command would bebtrfs rescue super-recover
.

When I ran that, I gotFailed to recover bad superblocks
double free or corruption (fasttop)

If you have a backup, use it. Otherwise, I recommend asking the experts in the BTRFS mailing list.
