This is not a duplicate of (although related to) bash: cannot create temp file for here-document: No space left on device.



My /tmp is getting filled up fast, although my rootfs isn't full and the directory is itself empty.

    Also do df -i to see if you ran out of inodes in /tmp and lsof /tmp to see if any processes are keeping deleted files open.

    Also do df -i to see if you ran out of inodes in /tmp and lsof /tmp to see if any processes are keeping deleted files open.
